Where It Started

Bart Vasquez didn't start in a patrol car. He started in uniform at 18, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1995.

For seven years he served on active duty — learning discipline, chain of command, and what it means to be responsible for the people around you. The Army doesn't teach you to react. It teaches you to read a situation before it becomes one.

He left active duty in 2002 with a foundation that no civilian training program can replicate. That same year, he walked into the San Antonio Police Department.

21 Years on the Streets of San Antonio

Bart joined the San Antonio Police Department in 2002 and retired as a Sergeant in July 2023. His assignments weren't desk work — they were a master class in exactly what private security is supposed to prevent.

He supervised South Property Crimes, investigating the theft and burglary cases that security exists to stop. He led the San Antonio Fear Free Environment Unit, working directly with neighborhoods and businesses on the conditions that let crime take root. He supervised the Mental Health Detail — where de-escalation isn't a slide in a presentation, it's the entire job. And he served with the SAPD Gang Unit.

That Mental Health assignment matters more than most people realize. The most common failure in private security is an officer who escalates a situation a trained professional would have talked down. Bart spent years supervising the unit whose entire purpose was the opposite.

He didn't just police San Antonio. He understood it — the neighborhoods, the businesses, the people, and the patterns that precede crime.

Sixteen Years in Two Uniforms

In 2005, while working full-time as a San Antonio police officer, Bart returned to military service — this time with the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

For sixteen years he wore both uniforms simultaneously. Full-time police officer. Weekend warrior. Neither half-heartedly. He retired from military service in 2021 with 23 combined years — Army active duty plus Air Force Reserves — and continued with SAPD until his retirement as Sergeant in 2023.

Twenty-three years military. Twenty-one years police. Most people in private security have neither. Bart has both.

Why He Built This Company

After 23 years of combined service, Bart Vasquez didn't retire to a rocking chair. He looked at the private security industry and saw the same problem everyone in law enforcement sees: companies hiring anyone with a pulse and calling it protection.

He founded Platinum Protection Security in 2023 with a single standard — every officer on the roster has been commissioned by a Texas law enforcement agency. Not a weekend course. Not a certification mill. A badge, issued by an agency that trusted them with it.

That standard isn't a marketing line. It's the reason Bart built this company instead of joining one of the existing ones. He knew what real protection looked like. He'd spent four decades doing it.

Today, Platinum Protection Security staffs posts across Texas with active and retired peace officers. The same people you'd call in an emergency are the ones standing your post.
